All About Me (and a GIVEAWAY)

First, let me apologize for not posting on Wednesday like I said I would. One of the things that you should know about me is that I am a military wife. Right now, my family is in transition from Kansas to Hawaii, and we took some time to go visit family. I was supposed to leave today from my parents, but because of a snowstorm, we had to leave a day early--which threw our itenerary into a frenzy. Needless to say, my blog post was one of the things that slipped through the cracks! Ah--life.

So, now you know one important thing about me. The military. I grew up the daughter of a soldier, then just happened to marry into the Army as well. It can be tough and there are lots of downfalls of being a military wife (or daughter), but there are many benefits as well and I would not change my life if given the chance. I meet all sorts of people and get to experience things that others do not--like living in Hawaii instead of just visiting for a week.

In addition to be a military wife, I'm also a mother of three adorable kids. Alana is my more serious, creative four-year-old. Kyra is my spunky three-year-old drama queen. And Connor is our newest addition at seven months old. Yes, the kids are pretty close together (which also has its pros/cons) and my house can be a zoo at times, but they're a blast--which is why I don't mind homeschooling them. The girls are both currently doing fun pre-school activities, but next fall Alana will start kindergarten at home.

My passion aside from God and my family is writing. I'm in the process of finishing up a novel (making two marketable ones) that I hope to find a home for by the end of the year. We'll see how that goes! I also post articles on my own blog, Faith, Hope, and Suspense, as well as Wives of Faith (a website for military wives), and now here.

Other little tidbits about me:

* My favorite color is purple

* I'm just as much a sucker for a good action flick as a sappy chick flick (or even a *gasp* teen drama)

* I have one blue eye and one green eye

* My kids were all born in different states

* I am allergic to beans (yes, all beans)

* I am SO excited to get to know more women through this blog!

Above all of this, though. I am a daughter of God. My passion for faith is very much a part of me and shapes how I live my life and the choices I make.

So, that's a little about me. What about you? Tell us something about you and I'll enter you into a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card! Drawing will be next Monday.

  1. Ralene,
You amaze me how you can still find time to juggle your family and writing with all that is going on. You go girl! You are such an example to me! Keep persevering:) Praying that your transition goes well and before you know it, you will be writing to us from the beautiful scenic beaches of Hawaii! Can't wait to hear what inspiration you bring us from paradise!

  2. You go, girl! Wow. Don't know how you can even THINK about writing or a blog in the middle of a transocean move!

Ok, your question was to post something about myself. Brown hair, brown eyes, married for nearly 20 years to the love of my life, raising our teen-age daughters and working full-time at local hospital (still a nurse, but in a desk job). Daughter of God and hanging on to Him for dear life in this crazy dance!

  3. You are amazing! I'm so glad I can keep up with you on here, I just wish I would have kept up with you while we lived closer.

Anyways, in regards to your question, I have been married for 6 1/2 years and have an almost 8 month old son (he is growing up way too fast). I live in KS and wish I could be a stay-at-home mom. Miss ya girl.

  5. It is nice to meet you Ralene!
Ok, about me....let's see....I was a military wife (Navy) for ten years. We lived in Hawaii for 3 of those years. I have been married for almost 15 years to the man God intended for me and we have one 13 year old daughter. I also blog at www.scrappygypsy.blogspot.com but my poor blog is in serious need of some attention so don't judge me by that! :)

  7. Ralene, I saw your post on Facebook and I just wanted to wish you all a safe move and a happy time in Hawaii. You are the last of my original group of Military wife friends to move on to a new duty station. I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed getting to know you in person for those fun parties. I wish you all well and please take care. You are a wonderful person and very devoted to your life and family. They couldn't ask for anyone better to share lives with. HUGS-Kansas will miss you!
